The Lip Seal Kit is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. It contains new seals that surround the tub opening and help prevent water leaks. This lip seal kit includes the revised lip seal, grease, O-ring, seal tool, washer kit, and instructions. The rear bearings are sold separately. Their part numbers are WP22003441 and WP22002934.

Symptoms of failed lip seals include:

  • Water leaks from around the washer opening or tub area
  • Puddles or standing water underneath after a cycle
  • Visible cracks or splits in existing seals

Causes may involve standard wear from machine operation, rubbing against the tub surface. Mineral buildup can also shorten seal lifespan if not periodically cleaned.

This OEM Whirlpool part fits models by Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and select Kenmore washing machines.

George for Model Number MAH4000AWW, ser 40338403WK

The diameter at the bottom of the drum axle is 1.75 in OD, the ID of the sleeve from the large seal sleeve is 1.59, so it won't fit over the bottom of the drum axle. As a result the drum won't fit in and can't be tightened. if the sleeve is left off, there's no seal. if the larger rubber seal is used it might work but the metal might work also. I'd appreciate any feedback asap THE MODEL NUMBER AND SERIAL NUMBERS MATCH UP it just seems the video shows the use of the thicker rubber gasket on the large bearing but then metal shield doesn't fit the drum axle.

Hello George, this is a 40 series washer, as such it uses the later the spinner support design which uses the Revised Lip Seal from the kit, the kit has both early and later revised lip seal parts. If the shaft seems larger then it should be check if the original steel washer is still on the shaft, it can seize to the shaft and appear to be part of the shaft.

Brian for Model Number 5500MAH

2004-era Maytag MAH5500 Neptune Front-Loader. What needs to be done about all the lint that collects in the small brushes around the tub, and what's the best method to deal with it? Why does this model have so much trouble keeping clothes lint free, especially when we barely load much laundry (e.g., 5-6 Hanes Beefy long-sleeve t-shirts) into the washer (this has been an issue since it was new)? What is the big hole for in the bottom of the door, and why does crud collect up in there? Finally, why is the original User Guide (manual) so useless? Thanks in advance for your help.

Brian, concerning your front load washer, most washers collect lint, it is a issue because all clothes release lint to some degree. The door bellows area seams to be a common area for all front load washers to collect lint, socks, items left in pockets. part of having this type of washer is doing some routine maintenance. The hole at the bottom of the door seal is a drain that is supposed to drain any excess water back into the outer tub.

Hello Naomi. If you can stop the water from entering the machine by turning off the timer or unplugging the unit, you will need to look for a bad pressure hose or replace the pressure switch WP22003728. If the only way to shut off the water is at the shut off for the water hoses, you will need to replace the water valve WP22003834 in the unit.

Scot for Model Number MAH5500AWW

I appear to have the "NON-revised" seal on my machine. There is a metal step down washer that's attached to the shaft by corrosion. Your video for this repair shows the revised seal repair so I'm not sure what I should be doing with this part?? You guys say to take the old pcs off shaft but nothing about this kit. Does the "OLD" style seal get a large stepped washer over the seal similar to the one you show in video? Just a bigger washer. Things were so destroyed in there, I wasn't sure if I was looking at part of the old seal or something that transfers over??? Help! Thank You for any help.

Hello Scot. Use the instruction sheet sent with the kit to see the order it goes onto the unit. You will need to check the bearings if the seal was damaged that bad. Also, the video does include all parts in the kit listed but you need to use the instruction sheet to be model specific.
