This miniature door switch is the snap-action interlock that tells the appliance when the door is closed. Replacing a worn or sticking switch restores reliable start/stop and proper door-status sensing for safe, consistent operation. What it does:

  • Acts as the latch/interlock sensor for door open/closed status
  • Signals the control to allow or prevent operation based on door position
  • Typical symptoms include: won't start or shows a door message, stops when the door is bumped, or light/fan behavior doesn't match door position
What's included:
  • 1 miniature door switch
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing. If working on a microwave, high voltage may be present even when unplugged—properly discharge the capacitor.
  • Access the latch/interlock area; note wire positions and transfer one lead at a time to the new switch.
  • Use a multimeter to confirm the switch changes continuity when pressed before reassembly.

For Whirlpool Miniature Door Switch (Interlock) (Part Number: OEM18055038)

Daniel for Model Number Du1014xtxq1

My dishwasher will stop anytime during the cycle and the start/resume light will blink as if I opened and then closed the door. I can the push start/resume and it will continue where it left off. It happens randomly and can happen several times In a row. Sometimes, the cycle will complete without it occurring once. I have assumed it is the latch switch shorting out. There is no information I can find with these exact symptoms. The closest I can find is that the thermostat may be the issue but my manual says the dishwasher will have to reset before being restarted. Do you have an idea if the door switch is the problem? Thanks.

Hello Daniel, The first thing I would check is the units' mounting. You see, the door switches have to make in order for the unit to run. If the unit is loose in its' mounted position, the door switches can be losing connection. If the dishwasher is mounted firmly, you should still check to insure the door is striking squarely because if it isn't, the door switches, or just one of them, can be losing connection which will cause the issue you are describing.
