The Water Manifold Probe is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This probe monitors water levels during dishwasher cycles by sensing when the water valve opens and closes during different stages of cleaning and rinsing. It plays an integral role in ensuring the precise delivery of water at optimal temperatures and pressures.

Symptoms of a bad water manifold probe include:

  • Inability to sense proper water levels
  • Fault codes or error messages related to water levels
  • Improper or failed dispenser of detergent
  • Incomplete or inadequate wash and/or rinse cycles

Over time, probes can corrode, crack, or malfunction due to repetitive heating and cooling cycles.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Water Manifold Probe (Part Number: OEM18044745)

Brandon for Model Number MDB7759AWS0

My dishwasher is not cleaning the top rack well anymore on Maytag MDB8859AWS0. It is leaving grime in bottom of glasses (middle spray arm) and on top (top spray arm) of glasses. I've made sure the water pressure coming into dishwasher is good and that there is no blockage at screen/filter entering dishwasher. I've taken the arm that runs up to 2nd and third spray arm out and ensured it was not blocked. Since it is impacting both the 1st and 2nd spray arms - I am assuming I should start with the sprayarm seal Part AP3081231 first? Also, I noticed the probe had come separated from spray arm tube (Part AP4357041) and I wonder if I should turn the probe where the 'fin' is parallel to floor (sideways) versus straight up and down - to direct more water into the midlevel spray arm? Thanks for your help.

Hello Joe. Check and make sure the water level inside the dishwasher is at the proper level. It should reach the bottom of the heater inside the dishwasher. If not, you will need to replace the water valve WP8531669. If the water level is correct check and make sure the rubber gaskets are in place at the middle spray arm manifold. Hope this helps.
