The Pump and Motor Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This assembly is responsible for circulating water through the dishwasher during the wash cycle, ensuring that dishes are thoroughly cleaned.

Over time, the pump and motor assembly can fail due to wear and tear, debris buildup, or electrical issues. Regular use, along with exposure to hard water, can cause the components to degrade, leading to performance problems.

Symptoms of a bad pump and motor assembly include:

  • Dishes not being cleaned properly
  • Unusual noises during the wash cycle
  • Water not draining from the dishwasher
  • Error codes indicating pump or motor issues

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Jd, This issue sounds like the circulation pump being the issue. You will want to check the sump assembly to make sure that the impeller is not damaged and that there is nothing caught in the pump.

Steve for Model Number 665.16483300

I've got a 10 year old dishwasher. It stopped getting dishes clean. I cleaned the food grinder for the first time and that seemed to fix this problem. Now I need to clean the grinder about once per week and it's always completely clogged. After I clean it, it works great for a few days. I suspect the pump needs to be repaired and was looking at this part: W10239405 Does that include a new food grinder? I would also need to replace this part because the flap valve stays open 8539167. So I'm looking at around $200. Do you think it's worth the money to fix a 10 year old 665.16483300 dishwasher or should I put the $200 toward a new one?

Hello Steve, Of course it is always the customers' decision whether to repair or replace. You have to realize that the remaining parts that will still not be new can fail at any time. They could also last for another 15 years with no problem, so it is kind of like rolling the dice. The chopper assembly (AP3039186) is most likely broken. The blade and the screen are made together so if yours separates when dis-assembled, this is definitely the issue. I would try this before replacing the entire pump and motor assembly.

Kelsey, You will want to check to make sure that there is nothing clogged in the pump assembly. It sounds like the upper rack is not getting proper water to clean the upper rack. If the pump is clear of all debris then you would need to replace the circulation pump WPW10757217.

Hello Joe, If the pump you are replacing is the circulation pump, it is well worth the money to order the complete assembly W10782773. The headaches involved with repeated teardowns and the parts that get damaged during the repeated process make the investment a sound one. There should be no other parts needed since it comes with the gasket and is ready to install. When putting the assembly in, lubricate the gasket with liquid soap and the installation will go much smoother.

Levi, You will want to make sure that the middle and upper spray arms are clean and do not have clogged holes. If this is clean and the pump assembly is clean with a good impeller, then you would need a new circulation pump.

Hello Steve, Yes, you will have to remove the unit from its' installation unless you can reach the rear sump tab WPW10300599 and get it properly installed. This is one part you definitely do not want to come out since if it were to come out, water would go into the floor.

John, The three(3) sump tabs are inserted into the openings on the side of the sump( but you first have to make sure you have the sump aligned in the tub opening, there's a location "key" molded into the sump housing. The tabs are wedge shaped, and as you press them into the opening, they create tension and cause the pump seal to seat an seal to the tub. You need to press them in as tight and far as possible by hand, no tools needed.

Hello Bob. Once the lower spray arm is removed, you will twist the flume for the arm and relase the tab to remove it. Then remove the screws and lift out the cover on the unit.
