Hello Jim, If the overload keeps tripping the overload, the relay 819099 is the most common cause. I'm sorry but this part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Patricia for Model Number Kenmore Freezer 106.8222040

Trying to diagnose why freezer will not cool. Compressor kicks on briefly (a few seconds) and then drops off. There is continuity among all wiring terminals on the compressor. There is no continuity from any of the terminals to ground. Suspect relay/overload may be the problem. Removed relay. It rattles when shaken and makes and breaks continuity when tipped back and forth. Does that indicate relay failure? If we need to replace the relay (part number 989662) and overload (part number 549041), your website suggests part number 3119970. The picture does not look like the parts we are replacing. Is this the correct part for the freezer? Thank you for your help.

Patricia, The overload and relay would be the most likely cause for the unit stopping and would need to be replaced. This overload and relay 819099 would be the correct part for your unit.

Hello Paul. The compatibility tool only works for original part numbers. When a part number gets upgraded or improved, then the original part number gets changed. The compatibility tool will not recognize those with the model numbers. You will need to order 819099 for your unit.
