Manufacturer Part Number: WP2262181

This PTC start relay mounts on the compressor and momentarily powers the start winding to get the motor running, then disengages for normal operation. Replacing a weak relay can stop repeated clicking and help restore cooling.

  • Provides initial boost to the compressor's start winding for reliable startup
  • Automatically drops out after startup so the compressor runs on the run winding
  • Helps address symptoms like warm temperatures, compressor clicking or humming without starting, or frequent overload trips
  • Failure may show as rattling, burn marks, or a melted relay housing
What's included: 1 PTC start relay Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and remove the rear access panel to reach the compressor
  • Allow components to cool; note wire locations and take a reference photo
  • Pull the old relay straight off the compressor pins; align and firmly seat the new relay in the same orientation, then reconnect wires
  • If your unit uses a run capacitor and/or separate overload protector, reconnect per the wiring diagram before restoring power

For Whirlpool Compressor Start Relay (Ptc) (Part Number: OEM18020691)

John F. for Model Number ED25PM

I have a side by side refrigerator freezer that is 25.4 Cubic Feet that I think is a Whirlpool. The model mumber that I can read on the unit inside the door is ED25PM. When I have put this in, I get 3 different numbers. I need a part that I think is a relay. The part on the refrigerator has 1101014 on the part. I need to be sure whether to by a part or a kit to replace because the part I want has been discontinued. Everything along the line of parts on the old unit are in very good shape. The old part has 2 male flat post terminals (looks like what you would plug into an electric outlet. What do I need to buy?

Hello Jonathan! WP2262181 is used on compressors that have been replaced before. The relay for the original compressor has been discontinued. You can purchase an overload which inlcudes the relay part number 819160. This replaces the old style relay and overload, instructions are included with the part. Hope this helps!
