This range control switch regulates power to a surface heating element, letting you adjust the burner from low to high for precise cooking. A worn or failed switch can cause erratic heat or a burner that won't respond to settings.

  • Varies power to the surface element for steady, selectable heat
  • Common failure symptoms: burner won't heat, stuck on high, won't turn off, or only one temperature
  • Restores proper control of the affected surface burner
What's included: 1 switch assembly Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing; this is a live-voltage component
  • Match and transfer wires terminal-for-terminal from the old switch
  • Handle the control shaft carefully to avoid damage
  • Test the burner at multiple settings after installation

For Whirlpool Surface Element Infinite Switch (Part Number: OEM18042384)

Lanny Bashant for Model Number RF111PXSQ

PURCHASED THIS STOVE APR 2010 USED THE OVEN 4 TIMES SINCE, NOW NOTHING. THE TOP 4 ELEMENTS ARE FINE. 23 OHMS ACROSS THE OVEN ELEMENT. ZERO VOLTS ACROSS THE OVEN ELEMENT WHEN SET ON ANY DEGREES, 350, ETC. NO OVEN LIGHT EITHER. VERY UPSETTING. OF COURSE THE 1 YEAR WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. IN READING SEVERAL BLOGS ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS A EXTREMELY COMMON MANUFACTURE DEFECT. SO SAD, PAID $304 AT LOWES AND A NEW SWITCH, YOU LIST AT $115. LOWES PERSONELL BASICALLY ASKED "DID YOU GET THE EXTENDED WARANTEE? YOU SHOULD HAVE WITH A WIRLPOOL PRODUCT. VERY UPSETTING. EVERY STOVE I EVER OWNED LASTED 25-30 YEARS. DO YOU BELIEVE IT IS THE SWITCH ON THE STOVE THAT TURNS ON THE OVEN? THANK YOU.

Lanny, There's a couple of quick easy checks to make, at the oven control switch. These will be live 120 VAC checks at the switch wires. First unplug the power cord or turn power off to the range. Remove the red wire from the P2 -6 terminal on the switch(so we don't get a false reading). Reapply power to the range and check for 120 VAC from terminal(s) P2-1 P2-5 Black wires to chassis ground, if you have voltage your TCO and wiring are OK. Check for 120 VAC from the terminal on the end of the red wire removed from P2-6 to chassis ground, if you have the voltage your L2 power supply to the range and control are OK, If you have the proper voltage readings, the issue will be in the control switch. Thanks and Good Luck

Paul for Model Number TEP315VQO

Range is ~14 months old. Cook top works fine. Oven does not come on any longer, neither in bake or broil. Removed lower oven element. It checks at ~28ohms, no shorts. With power on, each lead feeding the element measure 120 to common. From lead to lead, with oven thermostat in OFF position, it measure ~8volts (essentially open ckt, but digital volt meter fluctuates 6-8 volts). With oven control turned on (to say 300 degrees) there is exact 0 voltage across the two element terminals. Does this sound like an oven control issue?

Mike, It could very well be a problem in the oven control, but you need to make sure you have 240 VAC and no loose or damaged wires to the cntrol. If you have a multimeter check at connector P2 pin 1 (black wire) and P2 pin 6 (red wire), you should have 240 VAC across the two wires in the connector. Thanks and Good Luck

Hello. Test for 240 volts coming to the oven. Also check the elements and make sure they are good. It could be a bad thermostat. Hope this helps.
