Artie December 10, 2011 for Model Number DG412 Is high temperature adhesive required for replacing the front drum seal? I can see why it's required to use on the rear drum seal. The front seal appears to be held in place by metal tabs. I just ordered the front drum seal.
1 Answer Artie, you most likely have a "beige" colored drum. The manufacturer eliminated the high temp adhesive and glue doen seals, when they started using the beige tumbler and bulkheads. You should be fine with the part you have. Just remember , do not cut the seal, it is designed to overlap and fit inside the other end. make sure you install the end of the seal in the tumble direction, if incorrect, it will have a tendency to pull out and get caught in the clothes. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
1 Answer Mary, Yes you could install the felt drum seals yourself WP314820 and you'd need to order some High temperature adhesive WPY055980 to secure the seals to the bulkhead. It will require a bit more work, to replace the rear seal (almost a complete teardown), but It's pretty easy and do able. Good Luck. Read More...
