This oven temperature sensor measures the heat inside the oven and sends that signal to the control so the appliance can reach and maintain the set temperature. Use it to restore accurate baking and consistent heating.

  • Monitors actual oven cavity temperature and communicates with the control
  • Helps regulate element/burner cycling for steady, even heat
  • Failure may present as inaccurate temps, not reaching set temp, overheating, or very long preheat
What's included: 1 short-style oven temperature sensor
  • Disconnect power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before service
  • Remove the mounting screw(s) securing the sensor inside the oven; gently pull it forward to access the wire connector
  • Disconnect the harness, connect the new sensor, route wires carefully, and resecure the sensor
  • If the connector retracts behind the liner, rear-panel access may be required

For Whirlpool Oven Temperature Sensor (Short) (Part Number: OEM18033765)

Kathy for Model Number JGR8890ADP

Double oven Jenn Air top oven does not heat up though the broiler works. light also out on top oven . bottom oven everything working. The top oven lets me set temp but then stays at pre-heat 100 and does nothing. I see when I turn the bottom oven on there is a flame underneath a metal plate that goes on which the top oven does not do this. I tried to unscrew the (2) screws on plate for top oven I cant even move them. What do you think the problem is and what parts would I need to order?

Hello Kathy, The first thing you want to check is you ignitor. You should have 120vac to the igniter when it is supposed to come on. Also do an amp draw on the igniter. The amp draw should be between 3.2 and 3.6 amps. If it is lower than this then you need to replace igniter W11596211. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Don! The oven sensor is part number WPW10181986. Here is some information that may help with the installation, thanks! Remove screws from inside the oven ( some newer models like Frigidaire/Kenmore have the 2 screws on the outside at the back ) and pull towards you the inoperative sensor. If the connection on the sensor or the wire harness is not applicable to your model, use two ceramic high temp wire connectors to splice the wires together. Strip insulation on each wire approximately 1/2" from the end. On some models, the sensor may be serviced from the front, on others the hole in the oven liner is not large enough for the wire nut/connector to pass through and must be serviced from the rear. Important: Make sure the wire nuts/connectors are completely through the insulation and not touching the back of the oven cavity. Once the wire nuts/connectors are properly positioned, reinstall the sensor screws removed earlier.
