The Oven Sensor Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens, designed to accurately measure the oven's internal temperature and communicate it to the control board. This ensures that the oven maintains the desired temperature setting during baking or roasting, providing consistent cooking results.

Causes of a bad Oven Sensor Assembly can include exposure to high temperatures for prolonged periods, affecting the sensor's accuracy, electrical malfunctions like short circuits or wiring issues impacting its performance, and physical damage from cleaning or moving the oven compromising the sensor's integrity.

Symptoms of a bad Oven Sensor Assembly include:

  • The oven does not heat to the set temperature
  • Over or undercooking of food
  • Error codes displayed on the oven's control panel

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Bob, Check your spam folder on your e mail system, we sent you a response and a copy of the tech data sheet earlier. Yes there is only one oven temp. sensor and the WPW10181986 is the correct part to order. Thanks

Hello Sgbean, If the entire unit is inoperative you should flip the breaker off and back on to make sure one side of the breaker has not tripped. Then check the wall outlet and the terminal block on the appliance where the cord attaches. A loose connection will cause an issue. For a more detailed diagnosis, please list more specific problem details. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Hello Zif, If the ignitor is orange or red, it is not getting hot enough to ignite the gas. It has to get yellow or white hot to ignite the fuel. If it is not drawing sufficient current to open the gas valve, it will have to be replaced. If it is getting hot enough you will have a burner of gas valve issue. For a more detailed diagnosis, please include the model number from the units' I.D. tag.

Bill, Unfortunately the only way to get handles that are not stripped would be to purchase new ones. We do not have any suggestions for fixing the screwholes.

Whirlpool Accubake Oven. Range and broiler work fine. Bake function does not work. Igniter clicks 4 times, fails. Oven is filled with gas. It then tries to reignite every minute or so to no avail. No error codes. I replaced the bake igniter (and the broil igniter, since I thought that was the baking one),but still does not work. I haven't tested wattage, but since the broiler is OK, I am assuming it's ok(?). If someone can help with this, I would be much obliged.

Homer, You will want to check the bake burner and make sure that there is no issue with rust or clogging around the ports. This would be the most common cause to have the unit have a gas odor but not igniting. Also test the oven safety valve for 216 ohms of resistance at the oven safety valve.

Kevin for Model Number Maytag MER7662WS3

I am getting an error code of F1 on my oven. It is intermittent and goes away if I shut off the oven and then turn it back on after cooling down. It has also been cooking very poorly lately and when I checked the temperature at various times during cooking it reads at least 50 degrees cooler than it should be. Could this be a sensor issue or is it more likely the touch pad? I don't want to buy one part when it is an issue with another part. Thanks.

1 Answer

Hello Kevin. 1. Press CANCEL>CANCEL>START to enter the Diagnostics Mode and verify the failure code. If failure displayed does match, go to Step 2. 2. Unplug range or disconnect power. 3. Replace control. 4. Replace all parts and panels before operating. 5. Plug in range or reconnect power.

Mona S for Model Number GS460LELQ0

My oven works - sometimes! The Control panel all appears to be normal. It shows the oven has preheated and reached the desired temperature. However, 5 minutes later, the oven is actually off. The control panel still indicates it is cooking at the desired temperature. The top of the Range works properly, although I will periodically hear a a clicking sound from one of the back burners. Recently I have been getting a Error Code of E4 door open code, and last night the control panel showed an error code of AA 9444? Any suggestions as to what is malfunctioning? Thanks Mona

1 Answer

Hello Mona. The part needed to repair this issue 4453606 has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part. Sorry.
