Fix Or Wife Goes Nuts July 06, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool Quiet Partner I Strike plate 858309 is loose and won't latch. Two (2) questions, how do I remove the 858309 part.. it seems to "catch underneath," like some type of tab I can't reach prevents removal, and (2) does a replacement just slide back in? It looks like 2 slots should hold it in place? Thx, JR
1 Answer JR, Insert an Allen wrench between the countertop and the top of the console in the vicinity of the door latch. Turn the Allen wrench down and press down on the latch strike retainer brackets to release them from the support collar. The latch strike retainer brackets are snapped into the metal ridge on which the cabinet seal is installed. Open the door. The unsnapped latch strike will remain attached to the door catch and will be pulled out of the mounting slots in the support collar. Remove the latch strike from the door latch assembly. Reinsert the latch strike into the slots in the support collar and snap it into place. Read More...
