This is a durable pump and motor assembly for dishwashers. The purpose of the pump and motor is to pump water that goes through the spray arms when the dishwasher moves through a cycle. If the pump and motor assembly isn't working correctly, it could lead to dishes that are dirty after a cycle is complete. Other signs of a bad pump and motor include pooling water after a cycle and whining noises. If the pump and motor assembly need to be replaced, make sure the dishwasher is unplugged. Use a pair of work gloves to protect the hands throughout the process. Close the water supply valve and disconnect the drain line. Replacing the pump and motor assembly may require tilting the dishwasher on its side to disassemble the components that are in the way of the replacement. Once the pump and motor have been removed, install the new parts and reassemble the dishwasher before use.Created for use with dishwashers by KitchenAid, Kenmore, and Whirlpool, this pump and motor assembly is a genuine OEM replacement part. It is sold as a single part. This component is directly sourced from the manufacturer.

For Whirlpool Pump And Motor Assembly (Part Number: OEM18044451)

Hello Pete, access to the wiring connection at the wash motor is usually difficult as it tends to be in the rear of the motor assembly. the dishwasher came with a Tech Sheet located under/behind the lower front grill listing the voltages and specs, usually you can uninstall the dishwasher and slide it just far enough to access this area assuming the fill/drain hoses and power line are long enough.

Our unit is not functioning properly during the wash cycle so no dishes are being washed. Would appreciate your help. The cycle starts as normal and water flows into the base of the unit. Once the dishwasher reaches the point in the cycle where it should spray water, no water is sprayed inside the machine. The unit makes a faint sound that sounds like it is trying to start doing something, but nothing happens. We opened the door of the unit and depressed the trigger in the door to watch while attempting to run the cycle and there was no water spray visible at all. As the cycle continues, the water drains normally. We are trying to determine what is the most likely cause of this issue. Thanks in advance for your help.

Aaron, Based on the information provided the wash motor sounds as if it is not functioning or is not getting power to it to function. Check for power to the wash motor during the wash cycle and if there is power to the motor and it is not running then it would need to be replaced.

Saw your answer to another question about testing if motor is getting 120V. I'm trying to determine if motor or control board is at fault for main pump not operating while diverter motor works fine. The wiring diagram on service technician sheet for this model shows P1 and P2 eventually connecting to line neutral (P1 is through motor relay on control board), while 120V line voltage should be on P3. P3 is fed from spliced connection from motor fuse, with the other splice supplying diverter motor. The motor fuse is supplied from pilot relay on control board and ultimately from line voltage. I don't understand why you indicated that testing across P1 and P2 should show power, unless the pins are labeled differently on different models. I see 120V on P3 (and diverter works) and not on P1 and P2. Seems like my motor is getting power correctly from P3 and therefore the motor is at fault - is that correct interpretation? Or could it still be bad motor relay on board? Or the motor communication/data coming from board?

Joe, Unfortunately, we do not have access to the wiring diagram for this unit but if you were to test at the motor and see if there is 120 Vac getting to it. If there is power to the motor and the motor is not running then the issue will be a faulty motor.

My Whirlpool Quiet Partner V dishwasher will not drain. Low humming sound. Here is what I've done so far: 1) cleaned out bottom of dishwasher-no debris 2) cleaned out filter-very little lint 3) disconnected and blew out all hoses, including at garbage disposal 4) RESET board. It's still making the same sound and not draining. Pump motor? One other note, our cold water line in the kitchen AND the hot water line to the dishwasher froze last week. They weren't bad. We ran warm air over them and they thawed pretty quickly. Everything ran normal for the past week.

Mark, You will want to test to see if there is 120 vac getting to the drain pump. If there is power to the pump then the pump would be faulty.

Hello Dave, This sounds like the circulation pump WPW10056309 is the issue. You can test the diverter from the load side of the fuse (long wire side) to test pad at P12-6 on control (normal resistance 1300-1600 O).
