Louis November 08, 2021 for Model Number EV150NXWN03 My old thermostat in my whirlpool freezer needs Replacing. The existing capillary tube has sheathing over it that’s extends about 1/2” beyond the capillary. Should I install the new one the same ? By the way the OEM WHIRLPOOL replacement, 4389248, SEEMS to have a slightly longer capillary. Is this Ok ?
1 Answer Hello Louis, yes set it up the same way as the original, the extra length does not matter, only the very end is used for sensing the temp. Read More...
James January 06, 2017 for Model Number EV190NXWN00 I need to replace the thermostat in my upright freezer. I took it out almost all the way, but there is a tube or "probe" attached to the backside of it. How far does this run into the freezer and is it attached to anything?
1 Answer Hello James, The capillary on the thermostat is only about a foot and a half long and doesn't attach to anything. The new thermostat does need to be put in the same way, (pushed in just as far), with the plastic sleeve installed on it for the unit to achieve proper temperatures. Read More...

Mike January 01, 2013 for Model Number sears coldspot freezer 106.722541 Freezer (about 30+ years old), just started over-freezing ..temps dropped from 0 to -30..raising the thermostat seems to help for a short time, but now thermostat is is dialed just below "off" and below "1" and it seems to maintain zero for now (the past 12 hours)..the thermostat for many years was set at "3" and it would maintain zero and not go below. Any ideas, and is it worth the cost to replace?? Thank you Mike
