Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Refrigerator Thermostat (Part Number: OEM18067542)

1 Answer

Wade, The most likely cause for the refrigerator to not cool and everything with the defrost checking ok would be either the return air ducts are clogged or the thermostat in the refrigerator is bad and would need replaced. The part number for the thermostat will be WPW10511937.

Rubin for Model Number w8texwfvqoo

I am having issues with 2 refrigerators same model W8TEXWFVQ00 with the same issue there both run but don't getting cold . I have swapped out inverter box with one I know works no change , I have taken ohms readings on the compressor from what I can gather it has a variable speed compressor .I've taken ohms reading from all 3 pins and get 7 ohms meaning the compressor is good? Is there a mother board that runs the inverter box . Or what could be causing units not to get cold . Thank you for your time and any info you can provide

1 Answer

Rubin, If the compressor is not running then the most likely cause would be the defrost control board since the inverter is good on the unit. The part number for the defrost board is 4388931.

Hello David. It is not likely. You need to check for a defrost issue and make sure the fan is working properly on the unit. If the temp control was bad, the freezer wouldn't work,

Kevin, Yes the thermometer / cold control WPW10584888 could be the issue. Before you replace the control, remove the control panel box and air tunnels from the refrigerator ceiling and check that the end of the temperature bulb and thermal mass are in the correct position in the air flow, and that there are no ice or water in the air tunnels restricting the air flow to the control.

Hello Dan, This will most likely be the adaptive defrost control 4388931, the thermostat WPW10511937, or the inverter box assembly WPW10233421. You should remove the back wall from the freezer compartment and view the frost pattern to see if it is a defrost issue, an ice ball, (indicating a Freon loss), or no frost at all, indicating a complete Freon loss or compressor circuit issue. If there is no frost at all, look for oily places indicating the compressor oil leaking out where the Freon was lost. Also, check for the compressor and both fans running. If the compressor is not running, you will need to check for 120Vac to the inverter box. If voltage is going in but not coming out, it is the problem. If the compressor and neither fan is running, the issue is most likely the thermostat. If they are all running and no cooling action is taking place, the unit most likely has experienced a complete Freon loss or a sealed system restriction.

Abel, You will want to check to make sure that the rear wall of the freezer is not icing up and that the coils are not impacted but have a good even frost pattern. If there is no frost pattern then you would want to make sure that the compressor is running and if it is then you have a sealed system issue involving a leak or restriction in the coils.

Hello Shawn. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater WP2263749 and the defrost thermostat WP4387490. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer 4388931. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Nick! We do not have all the technical specifications available on the two parts to identify the exact difference between the two. We have pictures available on our website if you would like to compare the two. You will need to replace the correct part with the correct model. For model et4wskxsq01 use WPW10567140 and for model w8txnwmwq00 use WPW10511937. Thanks.
