The Compressor Start Device is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This device is essential for initiating the compressor, which is responsible for circulating refrigerant through the cooling system, thus maintaining the refrigerator's temperature. The start device works by providing the necessary power boost to get the compressor running.

Over time, the compressor start device can wear out or fail due to electrical issues, regular wear and tear, or overheating. A faulty start device will prevent the compressor from starting, resulting in cooling problems.

Symptoms of a bad compressor start device include:

  • The refrigerator not cooling
  • The compressor not running or starting intermittently
  • Clicking sounds coming from the refrigerator
  • Overheating of the refrigerator

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.
