For Whirlpool Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM17969283)

Evan for Model Number GD25SFCHS10

Water dispenser on freezer door slowly dripping water that fills tray and dribbles down the door to the floor. This fridge has the drip reduction valve on the fill tube. Visual exam shows water is coming out of the end of the drip reduction valve which appears to have the end cracked off. My question is, is it the inlet valve or the tube which needs to be replaced? How can I tell? The video says when the solenoid goes bad, the valve sticks closed, but is there a chance that it is not closing all of the way and just letting a teeny bit (enough to make the drips) of water through? I can hear the valve click when I push on the arm to actuate the filler. Thanks, Evan

Evan, For the dripping issue of the dispenser you would want to install a check valve 8201815 at the bottom door hinge.

Sandy, With the water valve having been replaced you will want to check the fill tube to make sure that it is not clogged with ice. If it is then clear the tube. If there is not then the issue will most likely be the icemaker that is faulty.

Hello DC. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
