Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Washer Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM12071565)

1 Answer

Hello Barbara. If you can stop the water from entering the machine by turning off the timer or unplugging the unit, you will need to look for a bad pressure hose or replace the pressure switch. If the only way to shut off the water is at the shut off for the water hoses, you will need to replace the water valve in the unit.

Tom, If the washer stopped completely after filling half way then the issue may be a combination of a faulty pressure switch and lid switch. You will want to test both of these to make sure that they are not defective.

Cletus, If you have the correct fill valve WP40107001 and look at the top of the assembly where the injector hose attaches to the valve in the black area of the top, you should see two small brass terminals, the loose wires will attach to those terminals, this is part of the automatic temperature control system. This isn't a polarity sensitive circuit so the terminals can be attached to either terminal.

Matt, You will want to disconnect the power to the unit and see if water continues to come in. If it does then yes the water valve would be faulty and need to be replaced.

Glen, You will want to check the water valve screen to make sure that the screen is not clogged. If it is then clean it out. Then test to see if there is power getting to the water valve. If there is power to the hot water side of the valve then the valve is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Bill for Model Number Maytag LAT9593AAL

Replaced leaking injector tube. Turned machine on to check for leaks. Everything seemed to be operating properly. I then switched timer to spin cycle to drain any accumulated water in tub. Unplugged machine for the time being. I later plugged machine back in to wash a load. Machine will now not start in the fill cycle, but will operate in the spin cycle. I'm not sure which of the following have suddenly gone bad: water inlet valve, lid switch, timer. Could it be something other than these mentioned? Any help would be appreciated.

Bill, With your description and complaint, you want to start at the lid switch assembly WP22001682 first. You want to check to see if the fuse WP22001555 has failed (open). The fuse is in the neutral circuit to the water valve, if the fuse blows, due to an off balanced load or sticky failed switch the fuse "blows" and the wash wont fill and wash, but it will spin and drain.

R for Model Number A608S Maytag

Was filling the washer for a Small warm load and after the washer was filled, I still heard water running. Opened the lid to check and HOT water was still coming into the tub. Had to turn off the hot water to the washer to stop it. Also had the rubber hoses replaced last year and plumber used stainless steel; I just noticed that these hoses are 3/4 inch around and I am sure the old rubber ones were larger. Would this be the cause of hearing a loud clank noise when the washer starts a new cycle, like rinsing? Thank you.

1 Answer

Hello R. No, it will not cause the noise. The problem you have is you need a new water valve 205613 for the unit. The noise sounds like a clutch/brake noise.
