Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Washer Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM12071565)

1 Answer

Yes, It does matter where there wires are attached to the fill valve. If attached improperly to the fill valve terminals, the water temperatures will be reversed. The Blue wire needs to be attached to the cold solenoid, the orange wire attaches to the hot solenoid and the white wire needs to be attached to the empty terminal on each solenoid.

LRB, The tendency would be to suspect the water inlet valve 205613, but based on your post information, it's more likely you have a short in the wiring between the timer and the water inlet valve or a contact failure in the timer WP206230 itself. The information would indicate that the washer is supplying voltage to the hot water solenoid and keeping it "open" during the whole cycle. When the timer advances into the off position, and voltage is removed from the timer, the solenoid closes and the water stops flowing.

Hello Tom. Check for a wiring issue. And make sure the outlet is good. If the wiring is good, then you will need to replace the control board on the unit.

Jeff, A couple of things to check, first the drain pipe, the top of the drain pipe (where the drain hose attaches) needs to be 36 to 38 inches high from the floor. Any thing lower will cause the washer to momentarily syphon the water out of the tub. Also, remove power to the washer, lower the control panel and check the air dome hose WP22001619 where it attaches to the water level switch 207362, make sure the tube fits very tightly on the switch spout, there are no pin holes or cracks in the tube and the hose clamp fits tight. A minor air leak in the tube or switch can cause the symptoms you described.

Hello Kapata. I would suggest you remove the front panel and look for the leak in the unit with the panel removed. Then you can locate the issue with the unit.

Hello Debbie. Sorry, the manufacturer does not recommend taking these apart and offers no information on that. They only recommend replacing the valves. Thanks.

Hello Linda. Turn off water and pull unit out from the wall. Then remove the hoses from the valve and the screw above the housing. Pull out holder and work the wires and hose out enough to unhook and replace the old valve with the new valve. These are not to hard to replace this way.
