For Whirlpool Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM9120966)

Dave F. for Model Number Whirlpool Refrigerator ED25TE

I'm looking at the Water Inlet Valve. Your video says replace it if water is NOT coming into the water spout or the ice maker. My problem is that the water is coming in but will not turn off sometimes -- so there is leaking from the water spout in the door (not a lot and not always) and the water will build up into the shoot of the icemaker and then freeze so that it will not make ice again until I thaw that tubing out. Is that problem of the water not shutting off at the right time from the Water Inlet Valve also, or should I be looking at some other part? Thank you!!

Dave, based on the issue describe you'll need to replace the inlet valve. Thanks.

I recently replaced the three solenoid water valve on the fridge to solve an ice maker problem. The only problem I can detect in the old unit is an open winding reading in the one solenoid that opens the valve to the ice maker tray. There are three plastic solenoids of different colors, red on the inlet valve, blue on the water dispenser valve and green on the ice maker valve. Are these individual solenoids available? All they appear to be is a winding encased in plastic with two terminals. valve is a FSP Model X74 part no.2206123

JE Jones, The solenoids are not available as individual parts. You would have to get the complete water valve 2206123.

Hello Matt. The valves have changed to the push in style and will work with your lines when you cut the off and get rid of the bas section on the bottom of the water line.

Hello, Do you have an installation video or instructions for replacing the water inlet valve? I just purchased part AP3040319 because my water dispenser doesn't fully shut off when the lever is not engaged. Water leaks into the "catch" tray which then overflows down the outside of the door and onto the floor. Nice. I'm hoping this part will correct this issue. If you can point me to a video for replacing this part I would be very grateful. Thank You!

Hello Rivlet. Although we are working on new videos daily, we do not have one for this water valve at this time. Sorry.

Hello, We recently switched out the dual water valves. My son took all the tubes off the old one and guessed where they were supposed to go on the new one. We had water running through the water & ice dispenser and switched out the 2 thin lines. Now we have water through the water dispenser but the ice maker has the same ice sitting there since yesterday. It is not knocking them out. Does this have anything to do with the tubes and how they might be connected?

1 Answer

Hello Julia. If the valve is new, and there is ice in the icemaker, but it does not cycle, you will need to order and replace the icemaker in the unit.

Hello Woody. It sounds like the water tank inside the unit is frozen and you will need to check and see if the damper is working properly inside the unit. Also, make sure the filter is good on the unit.

Hello Bob, All you need to do is cut the ends off of the water lines, (the lines must be cut off SQUARELY), to eliminate the part that has indentations from the other installation. The lines will slip into the new valve fittings and when they bottom, push harder until you feel them "pop" in about another 1/4 of an inch. When this occurs, pulling on the line a bit seats the seal.

Harry, Apparently you have a basic W/P heat release ice maker. To "manually" start your ice maker, remove the front cover, take a 3 inch legth of 14 guage insulated wire and remove 3/4 of an inch of the insulation from both ends. Looking at the control plate and gear, insert one end of the wire in the opening labelled "T" and the other end into the opening labelled "H" Mkae sure you hold the wire by the insulation and press the wire in enough to make contact with the internal contacts, Once the main gear starts to rotate, remove the wire. You'll also need to tape the freezer door switch shut.

Hello Robin. Hello Robin. You will need to press in on the water lines and make sure they are seating and locking into the water valve 2206123. If not, they will leak.
