For Whirlpool Water Valve Single (Part Number: OEM9310410)

Mr Coffee for Model Number Whirlpool

My icemaker is a FSP replacement in an old refrigerator in my rental house. The inlet valve opens to let air pass (me blowing through the valve) when I give the solenoid 120 volts, but when I have it hooked up to the house plumbing, water diesn't pass through the valve. A plumber the tenant hired replaced the original icemaker hookup with a plain 1/4" pipe hookup (no icemaker tap off valve with a tiny hole), and I don't know if that would make a difference. Do you know from my description if the valve should work OK with the plumbing like that or if valves can stick with just the normal water pressure when the valve is worn out? Thanks

Hello. Mr coffee. If the unit does not open and let water pass through with power applied to it, you will need to order and replace the water valve 4318047 on the unit. The new water line should not be to much pressure to the water valve.

Larry, If you have a water dispenser in the door, and an ice maker in the freezer you'll need a dual fill valve WP2188542 ( you didn't supply a complete model number). With the description you supplied, Your most likely issue is the water fill valve and not the ice maker itself.

Hello Jerry, These are called John Guess fittings. They were very criticized by technicians for several years, until they proved they wouldn't be constant sources of leaks as the techs. thought they would be. They are really simple to use. To remove a water line, you push the line into the valve pretty hard and push the ring around it toward the valve assembly. While you hold the ring in, pull the water line out. Now to reconnect the water line, push the water line into the hole and then push harder. You can feel the water line "pop" a little further into the assembly. To seal the line, simply pull on the water line and it will not come out if it's pushed in far enough. Just a note here to avoid having to learn the hard way. Before putting the water line in the John Guess fitting, inspect the water line and ensure there's no abnormalities on the outside of the water line within about 1/2 inch from the end of the line from previous installation. If there is, the end of the line needs to be cut off squarely so no water can seep out from the sealing area.

Hello Tommy. Yes, if the icemaker is cycling and sending power to the water valve, and there is not water flowing out, you will need to replace the water valve 4318047. Hope this helps.
