Joe K Cleveland , TN November 28, 2014 Appliance: Model R263TDWP Defrost heater shorted out A real oddesy with a Samsung Refrigerator. Samsung customer servicen is a joke, but thanks to Appliance Parts Pros, I have been able to fix the various problems I have had. It is three years old, but began having serious problems about a year ago. The display was out, and the food temp in the refrigerator side varied from 30 degrees in the crispers to 56 degrees on the top shelf. None of the independent repairman I found had the diagnostic tools for Samsung, and the nearest authorized service center was in a small town 50 miles away! On the local repairmans advice, I ordered a control board and display from Appliance Parts Pros, and neither turned out to fix the problem. The great thing about Appliance Parts Pros is even though I had tried them and they did not work, they let me return them with no penalty. All I had to do was pay the shipping for the return, which I was glad to do. After two months, the display started working on its own (I have no explanation for that!), but the variance in the temperature was still there. The person at Appliance Parts Pros suggested it might be the defrost fan in the refrigerator side, so I ordered one. I found a video on youtube showing how to intstall that, and replacing the fan fixed the problem. After four months, that fan started making a noise, so I ordered a replacement from them so my down time would be minimal. When I got everything torn apart, the fan was not the problem as evidently something in the defrost system had failed, as ice had formed near the fan, and the fan blade was hitting the ice as it turned making the noise. I checked the defrost heater element and it was shorted, so I ordered a new one from Appliance Parts Pros and finally everything is working again. This is not my first expierence with them - they are always helpfull and great to deal with!
