Freezer door gasket lost magnetism. Tim C. • Cumming , GA • August 20, 2017
The freezer door on my 12-yr old GE side-by-side refrigerator/freezer would not stay completely shut resulting in temperature variations and ice buildup from outside humidity seeping into the freezer compartment. These problems were exacerbated by the fact that this appliance is located in my garage in the heat / humidity of the Atlanta, GA area. I applied a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the gasket which improved the seal but did not completely solve the problem. I discovered that...

Refrigerator door gaskets were torn Robert G. • Willowick , OH • December 04, 2018
I searched online for replacement parts and Appliance Parts Pros had the part in stock. Before I ordered the part, I watched the video to see if I could handle the repair. I ordered the part and soaked the gaskets with warm water in the tub. The old gaskets had a much simpler setup, so no cutting was involved. I simply pulled the old gasket out of the track without issues, and installed the new one with finger pressure. Per the video, I took both doors off. However, due to the design, I could...

My maytag refrigerator with a bottom drawer was leaking air around the freezer door as a result it was having to be defrosted much too often Marjorie F G. • Princeville , HI • May 22, 2017
We first emptied out the freezer to another freezer, turned off the refrigerator, and let it defrost.
We ordered a freezer door gasket from Appliance Parts and it arrived within a few days. We watched the video on how to replace it, followed the directions, and the gasket was successfully replaced. However, while the freezer was off, I cleaned the inside. Unfortunately, we turned it on before it completely dried and the water in the tracks caused the drawers to stick. Now we have turned...

Right side door switch John M. • Folsom , CA • January 14, 2026
The fix went great. I replaced the right-side door switch and it works great. The switch came as a three prong, and the original was a two prong. I matched the two prong wires with/on where they go on the switch, and it worked great. Next is the left door gasket. I am letting the new door gasket lay flat for a few days to see if the folded kinks/creases will relax out. They do instruct to use very hot water to get the folded shipping kinks out of it and will try that as a last resort.
