Obtain replacement gear box. Would have had to rebuild counter and move sinks to replace the compactor. New models all 15" wide. Old models 12" inches wide. Ordered and received parts in 2 working days. Save me many dollars beig able to do this. I am NOT mechanical. Read more

Installed a new Gearbox as the teeth on the small gear used to turn the chain were stripped. Disassembling the Trash Compactor was fairly easy once I was able to get it removed from the built-in cabinetry. However, the hardwood floor installers have installed the wood such that there was no way to pull out the trash compactor without removing the side panelling of the cabinetry.
