I replaced the controller. I had a heck of a time figuring out how to get to it. The video on the website showed access to the control via the rear panel. On the Kitchen Aid we have, the back panel is part of the range's main frame and does not come off. Turns out, 2 screws behind the fluorescent lamp had to be removed and the entire control panel housing lifts up and can be tilted forward. The noise turned out to be the bottom bearing between the belt pulley and the transmission. Once apart an easy replacement. But you did need some tools to replace the bearing as in snap ring pliers and bearing puller. The water leak was the top rubber seal which is part of the seal kit. I had to make a puller out of some chain and a 2 jaw-bearing puller to the top of the transmission shaft to get the trunnion off but once it was off the rest was a snap. The video was a big help.
