Very loud squeak inside whirlpool duet sport dryer model wed8300sw0 Steve W. • Boone , NC • September 27, 2014
Our Whirlpool Duet Sport Dryer, 6.7 cu. ft, Model WED8300SW0, bought new 8 years ago (2006), developed a VERY loud squeaking noise inside the dryer. Removing the top panel did not isolate the problem. I researched the problem and through the videos appearing on Appliance Parts Pros (APP) website and a few others, determined that the problem was either the drum belt, one or more of the 4 drum support rollers, or idler pulley or any combination of these. I ordered the kit to allow for...

The idler pulley was squeaking Bob C. • Fall River , MA • June 12, 2014
I bought the new arm assembly because after a few times of going in through the front of the machine and reaching in the back under the drum I could get to the pulley, so I took it off of the arm and lubed it and then replaced it back inside, put the belt back on and it was good for a week or so , then started squeaking again. So after doing this about 6 times I got the impression that is was the wheel and shaft on the arm were worn out causing the wheel to wobble and wear the arm.
I then...

Electric dryer ceased to produce heat Glenn M. • South Windsor , CT • September 23, 2016
Our 25-year-old Whirlpool dryer abruptly stopped producing heat, though it was otherwise running normally. The unit had never required service of any type and we were reluctant to replace it. After confirming that no circuit breakers had tripped, I reviewed the Whirlpool and AppliancePartsPro websites and concluded that the most likely causes of the problem were a failed heating element and/or thermal fuse. The Drum Support Wheel Retainer is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. This part secures the drum support wheels in place, ensuring that the dryer drum rotates smoothly and quietly during operation. The retainer is designed to fit precisely, preventing the support wheels from loosening or wobbling, which can lead to inefficient drying and increased wear on other components.
Over time, retainers can wear out or become damaged, potentially leading to a loose drum support wheel. This can cause the dryer to operate noisily, vibrate excessively, or even damage the drum itself if not addressed promptly.
Symptoms of a bad Drum Support Wheel Retainer include:
- Unusual noises, such as squeaking or thumping, coming from the dryer
- Excessive vibration during operation
- The dryer drum may feel unstable or wobble when turned by hand
This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

The Blower Wheel is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. This component is essential in the dryer's air system, as it is responsible for moving air through the drum and out the vent. The blower wheel works by pulling air over the heating element, circulating it through the clothes, and expelling the moist air outside, which assists in the efficient drying of laundry.
Symptoms of a failing Blower Wheel include:
- Reduced airflow, resulting in clothes not drying properly or increased drying times
- Unusual noises like rattling or thumping, suggesting the wheel may be loose or damaged
- Excessive vibration of the dryer, especially if the blower wheel is unbalanced
- The dryer overheating due to restricted airflow if the wheel is clogged or malfunctioning
Causes of a bad blower wheel typically involve objects getting caught in the wheel, lint build-up that unbalances the wheel, or wear and tear that leads to the wheel's fins breaking or deforming.
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Dryer was getting louder and louder finally it started vibrating horribly i pulled the bottom panel and the blower housing fan teeth were missing Anthony C. • Newton , KS • June 06, 2015
I wanted to avoid pulling the drum. Luckily, my blower was easily accessed by pulling the front bottom panel. A couple of sheet metal screws were all I needed to remove the fan housing cover. I knew the fan was on reverse threads, i.e. righty-untighty. As it spins it tightens so no need for a retaining nut. I took off a screw holding on the exhaust tube and wiggled it out. I found the broken teeth inside. With the tube out of the way I was able to slide a crescent wrench in back and place...

Took to long to dry John R. • Delphi , IN • January 02, 2015
After reading the reviews of others, I ordered and replaced the heating element, thermostat, cut-off & the moisture sensor bars. It was a success!
The element was definitely bad on one end, the wire was burnt in two pieces. Now it doesn't take 3 hours to dry a load! Well worth the money I spent. Easy to fix & do it yourself. I watched the video before buying the parts just to make sure that it was something I wanted to tackle. Very easy with the video. Great job Appliance Pro's!

The Blower Housing Seal is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. This seal is strategically placed around the blower housing to prevent air leaks, which can reduce the efficiency of your dryer by allowing heated air to escape and drawing in unheated air. A proper seal ensures optimal air flow and temperature regulation within the dryer, contributing to faster drying times and reduced energy consumption.
Symptoms of a failing blower housing seal include:
- Increased drying times due to inefficient heat use
- Unusual noises from air escaping the blower housing
- Excess lint escaping into the dryer cabinet, which could lead to maintenance issues
Causes of blower housing seal degradation typically involve wear and tear from regular use, exposure to high temperatures that can cause the material to harden and crack, and improper installation that can lead to premature failure.
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

It helps maintain the drum’s alignment and stability, ensuring smooth and efficient operation of the dryer.
Over time, the drum support shaft can become worn out or damaged due to continuous use, the weight of laundry loads, or improper installation. Additionally, exposure to high temperatures and repeated mechanical stress can cause the shaft to weaken or fail, leading to issues with the dryer’s performance.
Symptoms of a bad drum support shaft include:
- The drum not rotating smoothly or making grinding noises
- Excessive wobbling or vibrating of the drum during the drying cycle
- The dryer taking longer to dry clothes or not drying them evenly
- Visible damage or wear on the shaft or its threads
- The drum becoming misaligned or not sitting properly within the dryer
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.
