This sealed burner igniter is the spark electrode for a gas cooktop burner. It creates the ignition spark at the burner head so your surface burner lights reliably when you turn the control knob.
- Produces the high-voltage spark that ignites gas at a sealed surface burner
- Helps resolve a single burner that won't light or lights intermittently
- Common signs: no visible spark at that burner, continuous clicking without ignition, or a cracked/chipped ceramic insulator
- A shorted or misaligned electrode can cause the spark to jump to ground instead of the burner
Includes: One surface burner spark igniter/electrode. Install notes:
- Disconnect power and shut off gas supply before servicing
- Remove the burner cap and head; lift the cooktop if needed to access the electrode
- Handle the ceramic insulator carefully; disconnect/reconnect the wire lead and reuse mounting hardware
- Align the tip toward the burner port and secure; verify a strong, consistent spark before reassembly

Upper oven bake element would not ignite John Y. • Rocklin , CA • December 02, 2024
I replaced the igniter. It was made more difficult by one of the machine screws on the oven had been over torqued at the factory. It had stripped the screw and made removal of the old igniter very difficult. If not for that, this would have been a 15 minute repair.
