I replaced the ball and socket connection for the drum. After doing so, I realized that the belt had been stretched and the tension pulley was not putting enough tension on the belt to turn the drum. After ordering a new belt, extra screw that was lost while disassembling the dryer, and some high temperature lubricant for the drum ball and socket the dryer now runs as well as it did when it was new. Replaced the bearing in the outer tub. They want you to replace the whole tub with the bearing made in it. New tub, almost $200, new bearing $8.00. Tried to use the old tub seal, leaked. New tub seal was $78+ shipping. Now I know why a lot of people buy a new washer instead of trying to fix the old one. I like fixing things and I like my 15 year old Frigidaire GLWS1649AS2, so I wanted to fix it.
