Fix a gas burner that won't light or clicks but doesn't ignite. This range surface burner igniter creates the spark to light your stovetop. 15-30 min repair.
I removed the burners and replaced the igniters. The burners must be removed because the igniters go underneath them. This job turned out to be very difficult because my stove is 16 years old and the screws holding down the igniters were completely rusted and bound to the stove top, so I had to drill out all of the screws. Also, the burners were bound to the gas flues by mineral deposits and separating them was very difficult. Once I got the stove top up, I threaded the igniter wires to the... Read more

Ordered Bake Element, Y04100019 (Whirlpool AP4283614) to replace a broken bake element on my 30-year old Jenn-Air Model S125 Downdraft Slide-in electric range. Received the element very quickly but it had been damaged in shipping. Called AppliancePartsPros to report this and they quickly shipped another element - very easy process. To install the element, I turned off the power to the range, put on rubber gloves (just in case) and removed the two sheet metal crews at the rear of the oven -... Read more

Fix F5-E1 error code or door stuck locked after self-clean cycle. Includes lock motor and switch. Video guide available. 30-minute DIY repair.
I knew the door latch was suppose to lock for self clean and it wasn't, so I took the back off and after tracing out wires and the linkage to the door latch, determined that it was a faulty motor on the latch lock. I got on line and Appliance Parts Pros was the first place that I found the part. I was surprised that it wasn't real expensive, but I kept looking for a cheaper price only to come back to order it from APP. I order it around 9:00 on a Thursday night and it was on my front porch... Read more

Range oven won't ignite or heat? Gas valve controls gas flow to burners. Common fix when igniter sparks but no flame appears. 10-15 minute repair.
I know absolutely nothing about fixing appliances, nothing. So I googled and found this site and narrowed it down to 1 of three parts (totaling about $550). I tried the first two and with no luck I almost gave up thinking I didn't know what I was doing and better off buying a new stove. For the last part I had to dissemble more and thought I was getting over my head, guess what? The oven worked!!! The part I needed was only $150 and saved money on labor and who knows what what else. Just to... Read more

Oven light won't turn off when door closes? This door-mounted light switch is often the culprit. Easy 5-minute fix—just unplug power and swap it out.
When trouble shooting the problem I found that the light switch housing outer lip was broken allowing the switch to push through mounting surface behind the oven door. This is a slide in range so, I proceeded to pull the range away from the counter where I could unplug the power cord. Once the power was off like located the panel on the right upper side of the unit and removed the screws to allow access to the switch. I then unplugged the switch from the wiring harness and removed the damaged... Read more
