This dishwasher thermostat is a temperature-limiting safety switch that prevents overheating and allows proper heater operation during wash and dry. When it fails, the heater may be disabled, leaving dishes wet and cycles extended. What it does:
Dishes were coming out wet and greasy so thought the heating element may have been burned out but it tested positive for continuity. Replacing the thermostat fixed the problem and dishwasher heats and creates steam like it should. Testing the continuity on a multi meter won't tell you anything because a broken thermostat and a functioning one both test 0 for continuity at room temp. Read more

The 4 screws that hold the vent cover in place also hold the assembly inside the door that has the heater motor and other items. The four screws go through the assembly inside the door, through the door and into 4 plastic legs on the vent cover. Two of the legs on the vent cover were broken and therefore the vent cover and the assembly inside the door were not being held tight against the door. The water was leaking in that area. Read more
