I replaced the cap screw and the bowl to get a new combination mechanism, which I hope will keep the bowl locked into place even if the dough is firm. I also ordered replacement screws, not knowing if the original screws would be damaged when I removed them. It went from repair to redo/customize quickly. As the mixer was old, but had sentimental value. I completely took apart the kitchen aid mixer. I took the case pieces to a powder coated for a new purple coating. As this was being done I decided to purchase new motor parts as the mixer is older and was at times struggling.
