Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Fan noise   Richard W. • Plano , TX • May 29, 2017

Removed the back cover to access the fan area. Clean the area with brush and vac first. Unplugged the Refrigerator. Used a socket set with 1/4" socket. Had an extended and a standard socket. Removed the condensate plastic drain from the bottom of the refrigerator to have more access to the fan. Unplugged the fan motor. Removed the two screws holding the fan in place. Removed the fan unit from the condenser side of the bracket. Place new fan on the fan and installed exactly the way I removed the... Read more

Control Board
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: 8201673

This is a Whirlpool refrigerator control board. It manages the appliance's temperature, defrost timing, and other vital functions. If damaged, the refrigerator may have difficulty maintaining an appropriate temperature. The compressor may run constantly, or may never kick on at all.Unplug the refrigerator before installing this part. It might be a good idea to move food to temporary cool storage, as well. Remove the wire harness and mounting screws from the control panel and install the new component in its place. This is a genuine OEM part compatible with refrigerators manufactured by Whirlpool brands, including Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and others. It is sold without any additional hardware.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Refrigerator side of the unit kept freezing the food   Tim B. • Arroyo Grande , CA • October 22, 2015

Technician replaced the damper first, but that did not fix the problem. Then he said it was the circuit board that needed replacing after confirming the temp sensor was ok, but he wanted $200 in labor to replace it. The same part from Appliance Parts was $75 cheaper and I was able to replace the part myself in about 20 minutes. Saving an additional $200. Everything works just like it was supposed to. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The in the door ice dispenser would not dispense whole cubes   Gary D. • New Port Richey , FL • June 27, 2016

I followed the instructional video on your website. I removed the access cover and then removed the 4 screws holding the old motor in place. Removed the wiring harness clip. Carefully removed the old motor so as to not allow the shaft to come all the way out and displace the spring at the top of the shaft. (great tip from the video). Installed the new motor. The most difficult part of the job was putting the screws back in. I would have liked to have had a magnetic nut driver. It would have... Read more
