This was a very easy fix. Two screws to get the front off of the washer. Removed one side of the tensioner spring. Loosened two screws for the motor and two screws for the pump. I decided to replace the agitate belt even though it wasn't broken.. So, I removed that belt from the pulleys and the removed the broken belt. then just reversed the process to install the belts. it toke me less than 30 minutes and my washer was back in service. The cylinder roller that supports the dryer drum was worn and needed to be replaced. I ordered the idler pulley shaft and associated parts as well since I wasn't sure if these were worn too. Watching the video on the web site gave me a good idea what was involved and where to look. It wasn't my exact model and make but provided sufficient information on what to look for. Dryer won't heat or stops when hot? A faulty cycling thermostat disrupts temperature regulation. Testing with a multimeter confirms the issue.
I replaced both the cycling thermostat and the hi limit thermostat along with a new thermal fuse and it seems to have fixed the problem. I thought it might be one of the thermostats but they both had continuity so I decided one of them must be faulty in some way so I just replaced both of them.
