Simple, did some research via "Google". Typed in the model and make of the unit, typed in the problem and the search results led me to a "youtube" video of what my problem could be. Additional searches confirmed my suspicions, I ordered the part which arrived a few day's later, installed it and now we are making ice. I replaced the ice maker assembly, which included the motor and electronics. I also replaced the door seal and the input cold air duct seals. The ice maker is mounted with only 2 philips screws, so it is easy to remove. The most difficult part is the harness, specifically the ground screw. The issue is that the wire is short and you need to turn the unit in order to get a screwdriver in. After being told by the technician that the part did not exist anymore by LG, we contacted LG and they gave us a replacement part number that no one had, no online, no onsite, and we contacted Appliance Parts Pros, chat with their agents and they ordered the part directly from LG, LG took about 7 days (business) for the back order part but surely enough the part came after few days. I was kind of guessing at the parts that I needed, but the parts diagrams were a huge help, and I narrowed it down to the bushing and stopper on the right door. I removed the door and was able to replace the parts pretty easily. Now the fridge door works good as new. Read more
We looked at the diagrams on your site and were able to tell which parts we needed. We had tried other sites and could not recognize the parts because the diagrams did not have a zoom. LG would not give us the information because they have a contract with a local parts/repair company. We bought three parts and were able to fix the fridge without bringing in any outside help.
