Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The ice maker was not making ice but water was being dispensed by the water dispenser   John V. • Belfair , WA • August 08, 2014

Simple, did some research via "Google". Typed in the model and make of the unit, typed in the problem and the search results led me to a "youtube" video of what my problem could be. Additional searches confirmed my suspicions, I ordered the part which arrived a few day's later, installed it and now we are making ice. The biggest part of the job was cleaning years of stuff behind the fridge. Almost found enough change to pay for the part. John Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My LG refrigerator ice maker was leaking water inside the ice maker cavity in the left side door in addition I was getting moisture around the ice door seal and the cold air ducts   James W. • Seal Beach , CA • October 20, 2018

I replaced the ice maker assembly, which included the motor and electronics. I also replaced the door seal and the input cold air duct seals. The ice maker is mounted with only 2 philips screws, so it is easy to remove. The most difficult part is the harness, specifically the ground screw. The issue is that the wire is short and you need to turn the unit in order to get a screwdriver in. It would help to have a short screwdriver, but I was, finally, able to remove it with the full length... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Refrigerator stop cooling   Luis M. • Alpharetta , GA • February 02, 2015

After being told by the technician that the part did not exist anymore by LG, we contacted LG and they gave us a replacement part number that no one had, no online, no onsite, and we contacted Appliance Parts Pros, chat with their agents and they ordered the part directly from LG, LG took about 7 days (business) for the back order part but surely enough the part came after few days. Replace the part, 1 screw, 1 cover, 2 minutes fix and done. Our initial repair man wanted $170 for the fix, no... Read more

I was kind of guessing at the parts that I needed, but the parts diagrams were a huge help, and I narrowed it down to the bushing and stopper on the right door. I removed the door and was able to replace the parts pretty easily. Now the fridge door works good as new. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You An lg double door refrigerator had broken drawers and a seal/stop cracked off so one door wouldn't close   Linda R. • Saint Petersburg , FL • October 04, 2014

We looked at the diagrams on your site and were able to tell which parts we needed. We had tried other sites and could not recognize the parts because the diagrams did not have a zoom. LG would not give us the information because they have a contract with a local parts/repair company. We bought three parts and were able to fix the fridge without bringing in any outside help. We weren't sure about the seal/stop part but once we saw it we figured out how to replace it. Read more

Gasket
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: 4987JJ2002Q

The Gasket is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This gasket ensures an airtight seal around the door, preventing cool air from escaping and warm air from entering. It's crucial for maintaining the refrigerator's internal temperature and ensuring efficient operation.

Causes of a bad gasket can range from normal wear and tear over time to accidental damage, such as pulling or stretching when cleaning. Replacing a worn or damaged gasket is essential to ensure your refrigerator runs efficiently and to avoid spoiled food or increased energy costs.

Symptoms of a bad gasket include:

  • Noticeable gaps or tears in the gasket itself
  • Difficulty in keeping the refrigerator temperature consistent
  • Increased energy bills due to the refrigerator working harder to maintain its temperature
  • Condensation or frost buildup inside the refrigerator

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.
