Ice maker stopped working or producing misshapen ice? This complete assembly replaces a faulty ice maker. Moderate DIY repair, about 1 hour with basic tools.
This was easier then I made it. Originally took the actual ice maker out without removing the whole system from the door. There are 3 silver screws that do that hold the whole mechanism in place, as opposed to the 5 white screws that hold the ice maker in place. With the entire assembly out it was a matter of routing the ground wire, retaping the wires, and then the whole assembly went back into the door without a problem. The door basket was a simple remove the old and install the new one. The ice button lever was a little more difficult. I used a paint scraper and removed the front panel. I then put the new lever into the panel. I then closed everything and tested. I found out that I did not install correctly. The lever needed a spring on the right side. I purchased both the left and right door gaskets to replace a broken left door latch and worn gasket on the top left.
