Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You One of the refrigerator doors was off kilter and not closing properly.   Dean S. • Henderson , NV • April 04, 2018

I was kind of guessing at the parts that I needed, but the parts diagrams were a huge help, and I narrowed it down to the bushing and stopper on the right door. I removed the door and was able to replace the parts pretty easily. Now the fridge door works good as new. Read more

Shutter Knob
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: 4940JA2026D

The Shutter Knob is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. This knob is used to adjust the position of the air shutter, controlling the flow of cold air into the refrigerator compartments. Proper adjustment of the air shutter ensures optimal temperature regulation, helping to keep food fresh.

Over time, the shutter knob can wear out or become damaged due to frequent use or accidental impact. If the knob is broken or malfunctioning, it can hinder the ability to control the internal temperature, leading to uneven cooling.

Symptoms of a bad shutter knob include:

  • Difficulty in adjusting the temperature settings
  • Loose or broken knob
  • Uneven cooling within the refrigerator compartments
  • Knob not staying in the set position

Causes of a bad shutter knob can include regular wear and tear, accidental impacts, or excessive force applied during adjustments.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Freezer and refrigerator not cool enough the back and bottom of the freezer were iced over   Daniel C. • Naperville , IL • November 25, 2015

After some research I choose to replace the Controller Assembly. This resides in the freezer and is attached to the evaporator. First I had to take out the ice maker (easy 3 screws) next I had to remove the back panel on the freezer. This was not too difficult, there is a small panel in the back with a single screw holding it in place. Once that was removed I was able to pry the back panel off. There was one electrical connection that I had to take off that was attached to the fan. The back... Read more
