Searched the dishwasher model on ApplianceParts (had used them for a washing machine repair a few years earlier). Was looking for an exploded diagram of the internal parts so I could figure out what might be the problem. There was a video for a motor seal repair kit that seemed to address the bearings which is what I suspected was the culprit.
