Finding the serial numbers using your guidelines, allowed me to order the right replacement heating element. It was just a few days and the part was delivered - everything that I needed. I found a link on the internet that said the ribbon connector in the Maytag dishwashers corrode and short out. They said you could do a cheap fix by cleaning the corrosion off the "printed circuit wiring" on the ribbon connector and resealing the "wires" with liquid electrical tape. I went through their fix and dishwasher still did not work. Bought the control panel part (from you) which has a new ribbon connector, installed the control panel and the dishwasher now works!
