I replaced the ball and socket connection for the drum. After doing so, I realized that the belt had been stretched and the tension pulley was not putting enough tension on the belt to turn the drum. After ordering a new belt, extra screw that was lost while disassembling the dryer, and some high temperature lubricant for the drum ball and socket the dryer now runs as well as it did when it was new. I replaced the belt, belt tension pulley, both dryer drum roller axles and both drum support rollers. Although I bought 2 tumbler bearing kits, because those still look good I am saving them for when they go bad. The videos were fantastic! I also took pictures as I went of wiring so there would be no question where things went when reassembling. Buy only an EOM Whirlpool belt (also fits this Maytag model) At your electrical service panel, move your dryer’s breaker(s) to their off position(s). Unplug the dryer. This project was quite easy once I figured out the best way to install the new belt. Two phillips head screws at the bottom of the front panel are all that need to be removed to remove the front panel and door. Lift from the bottom out about 45 degrees and the front will come off. Fix was simple. Hardest part was taking off old part and attaching the new part. The drum was in the way but I worked around it. Started by opening dryer top, then unscrewing the timer mechanism in order to create some slack. Removed the wires from the start switch and replaced the old switch with the new one. Reconnected the wires and screwed everything back in place. Simple fix wish I had more strength in my hands. Girl Power!! Read more

Be careful not to tighten or twist the small hex nut in the knob cylinder/housing with force. there is a very small plastic set tab that can be broken off easily. how do I know? The orientation of the switch "box" is horizontal instead of vertical. otherwise, this replacement part # works as expected. I couldn't get the switch to attach plate removed, and the switch removed, without removing the entire cooktop and removing the top glass burner cover. Not difficult, but time-consuming. Read more
