This wing nut is a hand-tightening fastener used to secure small appliance components for easy tool-free adjustment or removal. It offers a simple replacement when the original nut is lost, stripped, or broken. What it does:

The repair itself was straight forward as others have said. Remove back panel, raise stove top to access srews, then remove side panels ( outer and inner ). Voila the hinges are right there. After many years of excellent service the burner I use most often on the top of my JenAir range rusted through. After trying to remove the burner, which was firmly rusted into place, I decided to replace the cooktop pan, both burners and igniters. It was an easy repair to swap out the new parts for the old, and the only tool necessary was a #2 phillips screw driver.
