Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ice maker would not dispense ice and chute/container would frost over   Theo S. • Tallahassee , FL • October 01, 2014

When diagnosing the problem, I discovered that the ice door was not properly sealing and that the solenoid had appeared to rust/corrode forcing the door open. I replaced most of the ice dispenser internals (solenoid, crank, door, and spring) following the video. The door will now open when dispensing ice (which it does!), and will oddly stay open for a few seconds once I am finished, but does seal properly and the chute/container no longer frosts over. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Condenser fan stopped.   Bob W. • San Carlos , CA • May 01, 2021

Condenser fan stopped on my big 2003 Monogram 4 foot wide ZIS480D Refrigerator. It is top mounted. The fridge had to be rolled out. 20 screws removed and the top sheet metal to get at the condenser. That was the only way to get at it. Works like new now. Read more

Icemaker Water Supply Line
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge

Water line from water valve up to icemaker fill tube.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The plastic tube from the valve to the ice maker was broken   Alan K. • Leesburg , VA • May 16, 2015

Thanks to the AppliancePartsPro, I ordered it online and received it quickly. I even used the step by step directions on how to replace the tube from the AppliancePartsPro website. Just be very careful and review the instructions first. Couple of important things: 1. Take a picture of the existing wiring and tubes before you take them apart. 2. *if* you remove the wires ( red and white plugs) from the valve, make sure you plug them back in correctly. 3. Do not pull or push the tubes hard. Use... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Yes ice was not coming out of the dispenser   Jason S. • Goose Creek , SC • December 02, 2014

I replaced the solenoid, door, spring and bucket. The bucket cracked from ice freezing inside it. Ice froze inside the bucket because the solenoid stopped pulling the door closed which allowed hot humid air into the freezer. While I was in there I replaced the dispenser door, spring and crank because they are cheap and the old ones were moldy. The mold is most likely from the door not closing and causing condensation on the parts as well. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Leak in top of water tank   Merle M. • Valley Center , CA • August 23, 2014

Installing the tank went quickly. Removed the water filter from the upper compartment to stop water flow to the tank. Had to remove the two lower drawers (they tilt out of their sliding frames). There is a glass shelf that should be pulled out - it slides out via two notches in the front frame. The water tank is behind a white metal cover held by 4 screws. Keep track of all of the parts including the lip seals from the shelf. I used two Watts 5/15x5/16 couplers from Lowes for the connections.... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The fan in the lower draw was not working   Michael K. • Trinity , FL • February 16, 2025

I replaced the fan and heater element. The replacement was not an exact match. I had to adjust the parts to get the harness to fit the plug was not the correct size. I cut it off and used the existing plug. Not a big deal and everything else fit. Pretty good for a twenty year old replacement. Also the heater element was a different shape but it fit as is. Air Damper Assembly (Fresh Food Supply)
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR60X10062

The air damper assembly regulates the flow of cold air from the freezer into the fresh food compartment. A new damper restores balanced airflow for steady refrigerator temperatures—helping prevent warm spots or unwanted freezing of items.

  • Controls and meters cold-air supply from the freezer to the refrigerator section
  • Helps maintain even, consistent temperatures across shelves and drawers

  • Failing dampers can produce repetitive clicking or grinding noises from the damper area
What's included: One air damper assembly. Install notes:
  • Unplug the refrigerator before servicing
  • Access from the fresh food compartment; remove shelves and the diffuser/cover to reach the damper
  • Note screw locations and wiring; handle seals and air passages carefully to prevent leaks
  • After installation, verify the damper door moves freely and the cover seats properly; allow up to 24 hours for temperatures to stabilize

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You I was getting the dreaded "woodpecker" tapping in my ge profile refrigerator every 10 minutes or so 8 to12 loud rapping sounds   James S. • Bakersfield , CA • April 06, 2018

All my reading online pointed to the damper doors, and by standing in the open door of my fridge, I patiently waited until it happened again, and determined it was the ones behind the crisper. Problem was, there's both a single unit and a double set of doors listed on your part list. I decided to order both sets (and they came in two days, thank you).
