Replaced turntable. The axels of the small wheels on the turn table degraded after hard usage (20 minutes of near continuous use on small tasks). They would now spark and smoke with noxious fumes. Trivial solution: replace the turn table (the wheels don't seem to be replaceable). Read more

Found a service manual online. Used a volt meter to determine no voltage output from low voltage transformer which controls the display and circuit board. Went online to find the part. Installed it and oven is now working properly. As long as you don't remove the door or mess with the magnitron, oven can be safely repaired without special meters to measure microwave leakage.
