Used a Phillips screw driver to remove the top trim piece on the microwave oven. Then, lifted out the old filter element. Then, installed the new filter element. Then, re-installed the top trim piece on the microwave oven. Read more

The unit is a Jenn-Air oven/microwave combo. The oven still had power, so I knew it wasn't the circuit breaker in the house. Found the Owner's manual to see if it had info on a fuse & location. Found No info in the manual. Checked the internet for common problems for this model. Found that they do blow fuses, capacitors & sometimes the magnatrons. Let me first say that I did not intend to fix this microwave due to the age, however there are literally zero new microwaves that are small enough (height and depth) to fit. After uninstalling microwave I tried simply replacing the fuse hoping that it just got tired after 21 years of service. Upon testing the fuse blew about 2 seconds after pressing start.
