Removed the back cover to access the fan area. Clean the area with brush and vac first. Unplugged the Refrigerator. Used a socket set with 1/4" socket. Had an extended and a standard socket. Removed the condensate plastic drain from the bottom of the refrigerator to have more access to the fan. Unplugged the fan motor. Removed the two screws holding the fan in place. I 1st checked for proper evap and condenser fan operation. That was ok. I then removed plastic in freezer section to check for frost or ice build up (looking for bad defrost heater or timer or defrost termination stat). All was ok. Next I removed the thermostat and checked it using an ice bath and ohm meter. Operation when closing had high resistance. Red flag! Following the general guidance from the online video (fridge shown of course didn't exactly match mine) gutted the inside of the fridge enough to remove the water line. Replaced with new line, reversed gutting process on fridge. New line fixed the issue with the "clear stringy stuff" floating in the dispensed water.
