Dwayne H Fort Worth , TX October 06, 2014 Appliance: KitchenAid 30" Built-In Microwave KBMC140HSS02 Inside light bulb burnt out Removed the Microwave from the wall, then had to almost completely disassemble the sheet metal surrounding the microwave unit itself. Lots of screws and wires to work around. Takes 2 people to remove the microwave and set it on a stand outside of the wall unit. Once you get to the light bulb, the replacement is easy, just very challenging to get to the light bulb. Roy O Myakka City , FL March 14, 2015 Appliance: Model KITCHEN AID SUPERBA MICROWAVE The door was unsupported by the torsion springs and light was out i had experience with another similar unit so i knew the problem One of the most difficult parts is simply locating the correct replacement parts. Your website helped me though I tried unsuccessfully to locate a stronger replacement. You simply require a good phillips screwdriver - I find the socket style with replaceable bits work better. To change the springs and lite bulb you need to first remove the 2 side SS trim pieces and then the bottom SS trim piece. Then you have access to the 2 screws on the bottom that retain the entire microwave. removing them allows you to slide out the entire microwave a few inches. aT THIS POINT FWD YOU NEED TO SUPPORT THE DOOR ITSELF AS IT CAN BE DAMAGED. Then there are 2 screw inside the oven door on top and 2 more outside on the bottom holding the door brackets. removing them all allows the outer SS face to come off and allows access to the 2 bottom plastic trim screws. Removing these you can remove the trim and get to the torsion springs. These are difficult to describe but you should be able to look at the old ones to see how they fit to install the new ones - a pair of needle nose pliers helped here. The lite bulb is reached by sliding out the unit more and lifting off the insulation - it has spring retainers that are fairly straight forward, Read More... 17 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
Kirk J Colorado Springs , CO January 05, 2017 Appliance: Whirlpool 30" Built-In Electric Combo Sensor/Sc (Gold Line) GSC308PJS06 We have a whirlpool gold oven/microwave combo unit the lowever oven blower went suddenly noisy and the microwave light had failed I used the appropriate Whirlpool parts list, and diagrams, to identify the proper blower (there is one for the microwave and one for the oven), as well as a replacement bulb for the microwave. Received both within 4 business days. As others have mentioned, it definitely takes two people to lift the unit out and put it back - don't try it on your own. Once out, I removed the lower and upper back panels to expose the blower. Note, there is a metal "plate" over the blower that you just have to loosen to get to all three screws holding the blower. Very easy to pull out and replace. After carefully removing the top of the microwave, I gave up on replacing the light after realizing you still have 2 more layers of metal and wires to remove before accessing the light. As many have said, the light is a very poor design with regards to bulb replacement. I was done within 2 hours, and the unit is supper quiet now. Phillip B Sterling , OH September 07, 2016 Smell and loud deep noise coming from microwave electronic burning smell Pulled out oven and microwave combo from the cabinetry. Remove side rails in the front. Remove oven door for ease of movement. Be sure to support oven well. Carefully remove cover of microwave on right hand side (will need a small torx driver to remove screws on inner cover). Discharge capacitor with well insulated screw driver (DO NOT DO IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING). Need another torx driver, slightly larger, to remove the magnetron. Magnetron easy to remove and install but time consuming to get to. Fixed the problem. Henry E Englewood , CO March 03, 2015 Appliance: KitchenAid 27" Built-In Electric Double Oven Thermal Convection Lower Microwave Convection KEMC378KSS02 The counter weight spring broke on my kitchenaid microwave door Although only one spring broke, I ordered replacements for both torsion springs. The parts arrived promptly. Removal of parts was straight forward after removing the vent panel between the microwave and oven. Thanks for this repair tip. Installation of the torsion springs was fairly simple. Take care to see/remember how the springs were installed so that you can install the new springs in the same orientation. Be aware that the stainless steel door requires a different (heavier gauge) torsion spring than that which is offered as the common replacement on the website.
