I diagnosed this problem via the web and the advice was spot on. The problem was a failure of the bottom door switch. I used a multimeter to verify that the switched never closed properly. It took me a minute to figure out how to remove the old switch (press a release tab under the switch while simultaneously rotating counter-clockwise). This was a total novice job which will be apparent: Managed not to kill myself getting the microwave off the wall over the stove. disassembled the housing and watched youtube videos on discharging the capacitor (there has got to be an easier way than trying to cause an explosion). Fortunately it had difused and no sparks touching the terminals. Removed the diode and capacitor and checked both with non-digital voltmeter. A phone call to your company where a very helpful sales associate took the information I gave him including the model number of my Microwave oven. We had a problem with the magnetron a few years ago while it was still under warranty so they sent me a new magnetron but when the repairman showed up he had a new one also and said just keep it as a spare (no charge). It's an over-the-range microwave so taking it down takes a little bit of an effort, cumbersome more than anything. Got it down to my work bench, took off the housing, checked to make sure the capacitor was discharged, removed the capacitor (diode is attached to it) and... Read more

Was lucky enough to find the replacement part easily on AppliancePartsPros.com at a super fair price. They had the part at my door in less than two days! Simply unplugged the terminals from the fried board, and plugged onto the new board. Reassembled microwave. Read more
