Michael J Lebanon , OH November 14, 2014 Appliance: Model GE PSHS6TGXBDSS Water valve leaking that supplies door water dispencer and ice maker 1.) Located where the water leak was coming from in the refrigerator. 2.) Unplugged the refrigerator. 3.) Shut off the water supply to the refrigerator. 4.) Unscrewed the back cardboard panel. 5.) Unscrewed the Water Valve attached to the side of the refrigerator (one screw). 6.) Disconnected the three electrical plugs on the water valve. The plugs are different sizes so there is no need to worry about reconnecting incorrectly. 7.) Disconnected the two water lines by pushing down on the white connector rings and then pulling the water line straight out. Each water line is a different size and color so there is no need to worry about reconnecting incorrectly. 8.) Trimmed the end of each water line with a razor blade to ensure that the ends were not crimped and cut to a 90 degree angle. 9.) Reinserted the water lines into the new Water Valve. Each line will seat when pushed through the white connector rings. 10.) Reconnected the electrical plugs on the water valve. 11.) At this point, I put a bucket under the Water Valve before reattaching it to the refrigerator and turned on the water - just in case there is a leak or defective Water Valve. 12.) Plugged in the refrigerator and turned on the water supply. No leaks and door water dispenser and ice maker worked. 13.) Vacuumed the refrigerator condenser very carefully. When full of dust and it will decrease the efficiency of the refrigerator when the air does not flow properly. 14.) Reattached the Water Valve. 15.) Reattached the the back cardboard panel. This was the second time I have ordered from AppliancePartsPros.com. I received fast service and excellent prices. Corey B Virginia Beach , VA April 25, 2021 Ice maker would not make ice. My older GE refrigerator needed a new ice maker. I ordered the replacement ice maker and installed it in about 20 minutes, but even after the new ice maker was installed unfortunately I still didn’t have any ice almost 48 hours later. I made a determination that I needed a new water inlet valve because one thing I noticed is when I would attempt to use the water dispenser, I would remove the cup after engaging the switch in the door, and when I removed it water would continue to flow for an extra couple of seconds. . . I ordered the new water inlet (that came quickly in 2 days!) inlet valve and of course, watched a quick how-to video on appliancepartspros website. I replaced the water valve in about 10 minutes, plugged the refrigerator back up, turned the water back on, and finally dispensed about a half-gallon of water or so just to make sure the lines were clear. When I woke up the next morning the ice bin was full! We now have ice again! We had been using the little portable ice maker but it started leaking water less than a year after purchase so I took it back to the big box store where I purchased it. I priced more expensive portable ice makers and I actually thought about purchasing one but to be honest the higher-end ones were more expensive than just replacing the parts needed for my ice maker in the refrigerator. I really missed my refrigerator ice and now it’s back! I also appreciate how patient and helpful appliance parts pros technicians and support personnel were each time I called trying to help me get my situation resolved. Bruce M The Villages , FL May 06, 2017 Appliance: Model PSHSS6RGXCDSS Ge profile pshss6rgxcdss: water dispenser would not always shut off I had researched the problem and cut it down to two parts. One was the dispenser micro switch and the other being the water inlet valve. Tech Services indicated that the valve was the issue. The valve was received the following day. I watched the repair video, so with the part in hand I set out to install it. I swapped hook up for hook up and then attached the valve to the refrigerator. Total time was less than 1/2 hour and so far, not leaks and the problems seems to be solved.
