John K Boynton Beach , FL June 27, 2017 Appliance: General Electric General Electric PFSF2MIYGWW I changed the filter and the water flow ceased to the dispenser and the ice maker I seared the web and found Appliance Parts Pros site and when I input my GE refrigerator model number I was able to do some diagnostics on their site. It was indicated from my research that the Water Inlet valve most likely was at fault for my problems. I ordered the replacement valve from them and they shipped the same day as the order and it arrived the next day, faster than I had expected. I viewed their video and it was very good at explaining what I had to do to replace the valve on my unit. Simple and easy. I disassembled the access panel and was able to put in the new valve in about 20 minutes, easy to cautiously following the steps provided and reactivated the frig but still no water flow at the dispenser or the ice maker. Reviewed the actions taken and could not find any thing wrong with what was done. Disconnected the water supply tube and made sure there was a good flow from the input tube to the filter assembly, . Thought maybe the new filter was defective so put in the bypass plug in the filters place and still had no positive results. Tried to take off the assembly where the filter is put in place and that took some time since working inside the frig was cumbersome and difficult to reach, never did get it completely out of the space to examine it so I re-screwed it in place after a lot of jostling about. Replaced the bypass piece and low and behold water started to flow. Since when replacing a filter there is no water flowing out of the place of attachment I suspect that there may be a check valve of sorts in the fixture which may have become stuck and when I played with it trying to get the unit out I must have caused it to free up and allow the water move through the tube to reach the valve. Heard the solenoid on the water valve click and water was again coming out of the dispenser. Removed the bypass plug and put the primed new filter in and all went well, the water flowed freely and the ice maker cycled. All is running well and even though I spent several hours playing with the 7 year old frig I am now satisfied that all will continue. When I originally bought the frig I had purchased a 5 year maintenance policy covering parts and labor but that ran out about 18 months ago so any parts and expense for repairs could be lots. Thanks to the computer information provided by Parts Pro and the excellent prices I saved quite a bit on labor (minimal service call charges for a local technician to come and look at the problem for a visit and 1 hr are $100 and then you can add to that his parts needs and more charges for work) Read More... 153 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Nut Drivers, Wrench Set
Rod P Redding, , CA December 20, 2016 Appliance: Model GE PSI23NGMB WW Water on the floor ge psi23ngmb ww After valuating the problems and there were more than one, one of the issues I thought was contributing water on the floor was the warped ice door, then there was the water tubing which has been deterioting due to the heat of the compressor. Finally, I determined, the condenser fan, computer board, first need to be replaced, then the tubing for the ice and water in the door, replaced the ice door and at the same time changed out the filters and the lamp in the water door. After replacing all the tubing, and tightening up all the fittings, I noticed more water on the floor, then I could see the water inlet valve was leaking through the housing, so one more day of down time I ordered a new water inlet valve from appliance parts pros, arrived the next day. Now the refriderator is running like new, also vacummed out all the dust, and sanitized. Appliance Parts Pros has all the parts, and with misc videos, and you tube anyone can change out the parts once they determine the problems with the refrigerator. I have many years working on electronics, cars, appliances, so the repairs seemed relatively simple once the parts were determined to be the cause of the problems. Please note: the time to complete the project took a few hours, since I ended up cleaning and polishing all the parts inside the water door and cleaning all the interior. If no cleaning this project could be completed maybe under two hours as long as the intricacies of how things come apart is figured out rather quickly, several panels on the front of the water door with the wood panels took longer to dissasemble . David S Mount Pleasant , SC August 13, 2019 Appliance: Model GE PROFILE PSI23NGPBB Our 15 year old GE custom panel profile refrigerator was not dispensing water while it was dispensing ice. We've previously installed a new Ice Maker a few years ago (a repair that was extremely successful and had had a motherboard also installed along with sensors. Since this refrigerator has custom panels to match our kitchen cabinets we've tried to keep it going as GE does not (nor does anyone else) manufacture a successor to this refrigerator that our panels would fit. Seems no one produces much in the way of panel ready and with it being 15 years old we would be hard pressed to match the patina of our cabinets. So, I installed a new inlet water valve. Easy install, took about 10 minutes. This was after a GE tech installed a part at the dispenser outlet on the front of the refrigerator without success. After installing the valve, the water still did not flow and I now noticed a slight water drip coming down from the enclosed main body of the refrigerator through a grommet just above the valve that I couldn't see previously. Called AppliancePartsPros at 10:30 pm on a Sunday evening (thank you for being available so late) and walked thru what might be wrong. In the end, we've decided to forego further repairs to this refrigerator after a successful 15 year run and will be buying a new black GE Profile equivalent refrigerator in function but without panels, but matching some of our other black appliance fronts (wall ovens & microwave). Have turned off the water source, but the refrigeration and freezer part still work fine. Might keep it along with our other full size refrigerator and freezer in our storage area (elevated house!!) & be able to still see our panels or if we get rid of it entirely, we'll keep the panels just in case !!!
