Description

Governor links are used on lawn and garden equipment engines. This component is used to adjust the throttle of a lawnmower or pressure washer so it works at a consistent speed. If the tool is running only at a low or a high speed, the governor might need to be adjusted or set. In some cases, the governor link may go bad or become damaged and require replacement.The first step is to inspect the governor link and springs to ensure they are operated correctly and not damaged or stretched out. Check the governor static adjustment to see if all free play has been removed between the carburetor and spindle by moving the throttle from idle to open and watching how the shaft moves. If it moves clockwise, loosen the clamp screw, turn the shaft all the way around, and retighten the nut.
