Ivan for Model Number FSC23F7DSB9

My Frigidaire FSC23F7DSB9 side-by-side refrigerator fails to hold the target temperatures(6/38 F).Once plugged into the wall, the refrigerator starts and reaches the target temperatures, but the fridge does not starts again. Every 30 secs or so, it tries to start up(I can hear a fan inside the refrigerator and the condenser coil fan start spinning up but only for about a second). If I unplug it for a while and then plug it back in, it starts up and runs for a short time and the temperature indicators inside the refrigerator blinks E/F which means "Evaporator fan circuit failure". But if I let it rest unplugged for 4-6 hours, it starts up and reaches its target temperatures again. Could it be that the evaporator motor gets overheated and needs to cool down(I've already replaced the thermistor(AP4032998) and defrost thermostat(AP2150145))?

Answer

Ivan, The evaporator fan in your refrigerator is a 12 VDC fan motor 809069220 / 241509402. They can and will get "stuck" in a low speed, or not run at all intermittently. With the fan running slow or not at all would affect the cooling performance in both compartments. You can access the fan, make sure you rest the controls to the coldest setting so everything starts and runs, if the fan isn't running tap the blade or motor with your finger, if it runs, replace it. If it doesn't, check for 12 VDC to the motor and replace the control board on the bottom of the refrigerator if no voltage or low voltage (less than 8 VDC).
