Bob for Model Number FRT17L3FW7 Frig. seemed ok- freezer not real cold (ice cream was very soft) checked freezer temp> +10 deg. with freezer control (damper) on colder- Pushed cold control to the almost colder (3 o'clock) postion then freezer is at -15 deg. Frig is located in the basement which is prob at 60 deg. now in winter. Wondering if its the cold control.
Answer Bob, We'd have to suspect a room temperature issue, or possibly a defrost problem. At 60 degrees, you're right on the border line for proper refrigerant flow and heat exchange(50-55 dgrs. and the refrigeration is ineffective). Check and make sure the condenser coil and fan motor and blade are clean and free of any debris. Check and make sure there is no frost or ice build up of any type on the back wall of the freezer compartment(this would indicate a faulty defrost issue, and that the freezer door is closed and sealing to the front opening flange.
